Ensuring required time of 4 minutes 90-95% before recovery part of cycle

Thanks, Chris! I appreciate your help indeed.
So you think there should be a recovery 2 mins after 4 mins before 3 mins cooldown? Never heard of this in the protocol. Do you have any links? Do you think the app should have an option to support such additional 2 mins internval?

Nikita Y.i am not trying to create new protocol, im asking if there should be an option to have the app account for the time to get to the required target heart rate zone. In the first interval it might take half the time you have to even get your heart rate where it should be. Therefore for example after 4 minutes of what should have been zone 4/5 maybe you only have 30 seconds, the rest is zones 1,2,3. Additionally after the rest portion in subsequent intervals it will be easier to get to targeted zone but it is not immediate, maybe it takes 40 seconds to get to the targeted zone for the rest of the workout. Without this kind of dynamic option, one will always fail to reach the prescribed total time in zone 4/5. I think if you implemented this as an option, you would have something that Garmin doesnt have, which is why i was curious for apps that try to be better than a timer that records heart rate in the background. App can be smart if it uses heart rate recordings to influence the duration/programming of the workout.

Chris Thanks! Yes, that would be a good idea. In general, integrating with any HR sensor, recording and adjusting the duration of the intervals according to your HR targetscial for advanced users like you would be benefit, Chris.
Let us see if there are more advanced users like you, so we can prioritize this requirement and make such an option in the app. No doubt it can be beneficial to many users.

Hi, Chris.
The app has a warm-up (10 mins) and 4x4, intervals (customizable in the settings). 4 minutes intense, 3 means recovery and this repeats 4 times.
Is this the answer you were looking for?
Are you on iOS or Android?

Nikita Y. No, the issue is with these workouts that 4 minutes could go by and you have only 2 minutes in zone 4/5. The active portion of the interval would end prematurely and app would tell you to rest.
