Is the Apple watch needed to display real time heart rate data in your app? My iPhone does not refresh heart rate data unless that screen is active in Apple Health. Which kind of defeats a main feature of your app. Thanks

Dear C Ardel, please, try a new version available in AppStore: 1.35. It should be able to refresh HR more often from the Apple Health. Please, let me know if it's better for your setup.

Indeed we rely on Apple Health only. And read data from there. It is more about 4x4 timer than anything else, that’s how the app was created. And it’s sport-agnostic. Some just out it in their pocket and run, relying on audio cues.

Nikita Y., thanks - so by audio cues do you mean interval notifications? Is the 4x4 HR not supposed to refresh?

I have the Cardiogram app, which displays real time HR data. But I don’t know how it works behind the scenes.

C Ardel, yes, audio cues for interval notifications. We read HR data from Apple Health, where data is supplied by external devices. If data is not supplied - we cannot read it. Can you check if your HR device is allowed to share data with Apple Health? We don't integrate with Cardiogram or other apps directly. There are too much of those on the market.

Nikita Y., sincere thanks. Yes, AH is open and monitoring. Here’s my experience:
Open Ah, see current HR. Say 70 bpm. 
In N4x4, interval starts, see 70.
Min 3 of interval, N4 HR still 70. Can’t be, I’m working hard. 
Switch to AH. HR = 140. 
Switch to N4. HR is 140. 
End of rest, N4 hr still 140. Can’t be, respiration is normal. Switch to AH, it’s 90. 
In short, the only way I get real time hr is manually switching between apps.
